Adopt or Sponsor a PAWS Pet PAWS rescues approximately 115 dogs and 435 cats each year. We seek loving homes for these animals and sponsors to support them while they are in our care.

Adopt a Pet

PAWS always has numerous dogs and cats available for adoption. Most of them are pictured in our gallery of dogs and gallery of cats.

Everyone interested in adopting a pet from PAWS must complete an adoption application before they come in to see pets. Makes the process go a bit smoother and helps us get a better idea of what your needs are. This way we can try to determine what pets might be a good match for your situation. Not all pets are suited for all homes & vice-versa. Also, if we have your application ahead of time and any info is missing, we can get it resolved before you come in.

Please allow 24 hours for us to begin processing your application. We will make every attempt to contact you within one week of submitting your application. Once we have your application & have reviewed it, one of the adoption counselors will give you a call to set up a time to see the pets.

Effective 8/1/2010, PAWS is open to the public as follows:

  • Monday and Tuesday - By appointment only
  • Wednesday and Friday - Noon to 8 pm
  • Thursday - Noon to 9 pm
  • Saturdays and Sundays - Noon to 4 pm

PAWS is open to the public during the hours listed above. The public is invited to visit our shelter during those hours to inquire about animals available for adoption, learn about our adoption process, and complete an adoption application.

It is best to call ahead for an appointment to meet with an Adoption Counselor, as one might not be available to meet with walk-in applicants, or there might be a lengthy wait. However, walk-ins are welcome and we will make every effort to accommodate them.

Applications are available online, or you may stop by the shelter during the hours listed above, to complete an application and learn more about our adoption process.

The adoption applications can be found at Cat adoption application or Dog adoption application.

Please note that animals can only interact with adoption applicants who have completed an application and met with an adoption counselor.

For the comfort and well-being of our dogs, only staff and volunteers may enter our kennel area.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have other pets, please bring a copy of your Vet records so that we may verify that they are spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations. This is necessary prior to adopting a pet from PAWS in the evening or on the weekends as we are not able to reach most Vets by phone at those times.

We can be flexible if the listed adoption times do not work for you.

When coming to see pets, whether by appointment or during the open house, please expect to spend at least one hour at PAWS with the pets. It is important that you spend time with the pets in order to select a pet that is a good match for your family.

The adoption applications can be found at Cat adoption application or Dog adoption application.

ADOPTION FEES: Effective July 1, 2008
